Do I need a referral from my PCP to make an appointment? Most often the answer is no. We accept self referrals but it would be nice to get information your PCP may have on record to help us better treat you at the appointment, so a referral is preferred if able. On rare occasions, some insurances do require this and you should check with your insurance plan to determine ahead of time if you do self refer.

Do you take walk-in appointments? No, not usually. LPC is not an urgent care clinic. We do however try to get new patients seen in a timely fashion and many of our doctors are able to work in established patients on a same day basis for urgent needs. This prevents uneccessary ER visits and we even have Telemedicine visit options for those that can not get to the office because they are too sick to get out.

How do I know if my insurance is accepted?LPC accepts most all major insurance plans but you can go online with your insurance provider and look up the practice to see if we are participating with your plan. Odds are that we are. If still not sure our business office manager, Toni Stallard, can help clarify.

What testing is available onsite? Will I need to go elsewhere for any testing?LPC offers in office pulmonary function testing with 4 state of the art body boxes as well as standard X-ray and lab draws. We now also offer in home sleep testing for your convenience. On occasion further testing may be needed such as CT scans which are not available in office but LPC will work with you to find the most appropriate and affordable location for that testing if needed. We are attached to Baptist Louisville Hospital at our main office and Baptist Lagrange hospital at that location as well which can conveniently offer any further testing that may not be available in our LPC office. That does not mean testing has to be done at those locations however and LPC works closely with all local imaging and lab facilities.

What hospitals system is LPC affiliated with?LPC is a private group and not owned by any one hospital system. Thereby, we are affiliated with all the major hospital systems in the region including Baptist, Norton and Jewish (now part of the University of Louisville). We most closely work with Baptist Louisville and Baptist LaGrange. We are the contracted intensive care team for both locations and handle all the pulmonary consultation needs in the hospital outside of the ICU as well.
